"Opportunities are usually disguised as hard work, so most people don't recognize them."

Knowing The Problem Is The Easy Part. Now, What'cha Gonna Do?
A leader doesn't merely give orders. He or she encourages others to take the initiative as well. Train your people not only to identify problems, but to offer solutions as well.
Initiative is a trait that should be cultivated and rewarded whenever possible.
Today's Idea For Action is from the TQ Synergize Color: Bring Out The Best In Everyone.

Now, ask yourself the following three questions:
- What kind of example do you set for others? Do you look for potential solutions when you discover a problem?
- Do you acknowledge other people's suggestions and initiative and then reward them for it?
- Who needs to be encouraged to take more initiative today?
So, Just How Committed to High Achievement Are You?
A high commitment (7A rated 8 or better) suggests you believe that every person, including yourself, is valuable. Just as you can't be an expert in all areas, you realize that others have areas of strengths and weaknesses too. Therefore, you believe that each person you meet has something of value to offer. You also believe that the secret to Synergy is to discover what each person can contribute -- and then find a way to share and increase this value together.
A lack of commitment suggests you are someone who often fails to appreciate the value of the other person. Your normal tendency is to generalize the degree of importance of other people based on preconceived notions of who you think they are, or what they can do for you. He's "just" an employee in a different department. She's "just" a new customer who doesn't know what she wants. This biased opinion causes you to be blind to the real value each person contributes -- and limits the true potential of what you could do together.
What happens when you do TQ Factor 7A more frequently?
You have more power. You bring out the best in everyone, and together, you create more than you ever could have alone.
You accumulate performance positives like "Respectful, Perceptive and Grateful" -- immediately moving you towards the results you expect.
What happens when you fail to consistently do TQ Factor 7A?
You have less power. You reject the valuable contribution that others could bring to the table.
Negatives like "Judgmental, Narrow-Minded and Inconsiderate" start to take their toll on your performance -- quickly moving you away from the success you want.
