Is There Too Much On Your List Today?

Don't list everything and the kitchen sink on your list of priorities for today. Identify the top 3 or 4 highest payoff items, then go after them.

A prioritized list of things to do today is your best guide for where you should invest your time. Some of your projects have more value than others. You don't always have time to complete everything on your to-do list. Therefore, before you start your day, rank your entire list by the relative reward of each task. If there are any tasks still remaining at the end of the day, they should be the least important ones -- not the most important.

Keep your daily To Do List down to a relatively small number of high payoff items. If you scratch off your whole list, make a new one.

So, Just How Committed to High Achievement Are You?

Think about it. How well and how often do you actually do Prioritize Factor 6G? (Maintain "To-Be-Done" List -- Prioritized by Value.) No question, this is a major driver of personal and professional success.

A high commitment (6G rated 8 or better) suggests you are someone who prioritizes your actions well before you take them. Before plunging into your first task, you prioritize the relative value of each item on your to-do list. You know what your goals are for the week, and how much time you have available to work them. You proactively plan your day by prioritizing all of the things you want to get done. It's a simple skill that takes little time each morning. When you're done, you know the relative value of every item on your list -- where to start --and when you expect to get finished.

Or not?

A lack of commitment suggests you are someone who doesn't know what's important -- and confuses effort with results. You start most days with nothing but a mental review of what needs to be done. You then rush to do the easiest task, or the one that appears to be the most urgent. You stay busy all day, but rarely feel truly productive. A great day for you is when you check off a long list of items and meet most of your deadlines -- regardless of their inherent value.

You have more power. You know exactly where your time will be the most productive.

Negatives like "Impulsive, Reactive and Ineffective" start to take their toll on your performance -- quickly moving you away from the success you want.
