Is Your Work Full Of Sound And Fury, But Signifying Nothing?

Activity doesn't necessarily equal achievement. Rather than trying to get someplace quickly, first you need to know where you want to go. Focus your activities in the direction of your goals.

A goal is something beyond where you are. If you want to get from here to your goal, you must take the steps required to get there. Goals don't just automatically "happen." Obvious? You bet! But if this is obvious, why do so many people set goals then never achieve them? Goals don't happen on their own. If you want the goal, you have to do the work. This means taking the steps necessary to get there, day-by-day.

Know your destination. Going somewhere quickly means nothing if you're going in the wrong direction.

So, Just How Committed to High Achievement Are You?

Think about it. How well and how often do you actually do Set Goals Factor 4J? (Take at Least One Step Towards Each Goal -- Daily.) No question, this is a major driver of personal and professional success.

A high commitment (4J rated 8 or better) suggests your commitment to your goals shows up in your actions -- every single day. You have a sense of satisfaction and pride at the end of the day, because you know that you've made progress -- however large or small -- on the things that mean the most to you. By taking a daily step toward your most heart-felt goals -- regardless of the other demands on your time -- you are continually rewarded knowing that your life is moving in the right direction. Daily accomplishments increase your momentum as you check off completed objectives -- one-by-one.

Or not?

A lack of commitment suggests you are someone who can let weeks go by without making any real progress on your goals. There are too many days when your goals are sacrificed to other demands that seem more important, or more urgent. This makes it impossible to accurately predict when you will accomplish your goals -- because you have no idea how much time you'll have available to dedicate to them. You become discouraged each time a deadline comes and goes. With no real progress in sight, your goals become less believable as the days, weeks and months roll by.

What happens when you do TQ Factor 4J more frequently?

You have more power. You can point with pride to each day's progress toward your most cherished goals.

You accumulate performance positives like "Diligent, Persistent and Gratified" -- immediately moving you towards the results you expect.

What happens when you fail to consistently do TQ Factor 4J?

You have less power. Your goals die a slow, agonizing death from a lack of attention.

Negatives like "Lackadaisical, Uncommitted and Unrewarded" start to take their toll on your performance -- quickly moving you away from the success you want.
