How Soon Is Asap?
When you delegate a task, always agree upon a deadline. "Soon'' means different things to different people.
IMPACT:Delegation done poorly is worse than doing everything yourself. However, you can multiply your productivity when you become an expert at delegating duties and authority to others. By issuing a clear request, and receiving a committment in return, you can leverage your time and accomplish far more -- rather than working alone and accomplishing less. The secret is to reach a clearly established agreement of exactly what needs to get done, by when and by whom.
Deadlines help direct tasks to their completion.
